How does a new member get started in the club

• You can join us online and gain access to the member area by filling out the membership registration form. You will receive access to the SOAR member's area once you have verified your email address.
  

• Create your Profile by logging in, clicking on YOUR MEMBER DETAILS button at the upper left, we intentionally have a sparse details area to prevent phishing. We are developing a members community that will allow a greater degree of member interaction if so desired, but we take great strides to prevent SOAR from becoming a dating site, If you meet the person of your dreams on an event, great, we just want that to be mutual and on your terms.

• If you think of an event that we don't have posted, you can post your event suggestion on the Bulletin Board. The newest members tend to have the newest ideas for cool events and this keeps the club interesting.

What is the club's policy regarding data security and confidentiality?

• All the information you provided is kept in our encrypted database. The club does not sell, share, or give out any member data for any reason.

What is the policy on bringing guests to events?

• We allow members to bring guests provided there is room for them, and it is coordinated with the event leader in advance. some events are discounted to SOAR members and may require guests to pay a higher rate.

What types of events are offered?

• Our focus is on outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, biking, scuba diving, horseback riding, canoe and kayaking. We also host several social/cultural events each month such as dinners, wine tastings, movies, museums and happy hours. And we plan several adventure oriented trips each year. Our club members suggest events, then our team of Event Leaders plan, organize and make the necessary arrangements.

What is the average age of club members?

• Sandhills Outdoor Adventure and Recreation Club is open to adults 21 and older and minors with a family membership, our members age range is 10-67. Due to the nature of some activities, certain events will draw members in the same age group. However, since we are not a dating club and focus on offering fun & unique events, our members are not concerned with age. All members are allowed to participate in every SOAR activity as long as they are physically able to do so. In fact, many of our younger members are often impressed with the fitness and endurance level of some of our older members. For events that involve physical activity, we include the level of difficulty in our event details. Many members have commented on how much fun it is to be able to socialize with people much older or much younger than they are. Being open to adults of all ages, single or married, makes SOAR a one-of-a-kind activities club in NC.

What does it cost to be a member?

• Membership is free at this time, and anyone who is an active member will never have to pay dues. In the future we intend to offer our members advanced services such as a training facility and gear locker, at that time we will charge a monthly fee for those members that desire access to cover program expenses. All current active members will be exempt from ever having to pay dues, we define active as participating in at least one event per callender year.

What type of memberships do you offer?

• We offer an individual as well as the family membership, with the family plan you will share one screen name and profile page. The family membership is limited to immediate family, but there is no limit to the number of dependants.

Are the events free?

• Many events are free. Some events may require the purchase of tickets or incur some travel costs. Each event listing will clearly state if it is free or not, and if not, what the anticipated costs will be. We always strive to get group discounts for our members. To avoid being an outfitter we do not have dedicated club transportation, instead we carpool when ever feasible.
